Zee Closure 35-2011

September 2nd, 2011
Peter van der Zee

Hello again! This week was relatively quiet. Besides HP surprisingly announcing another batch of TouchPads to be produced (but only for sale in the USA) and Samsung stating they have no interest in WebOS, it’s been rather quiet.

Of course today our own Tobias gets married! With that he finishes the Uxebu marriage hat-trick for this year ;) With me and Nikolai getting married one and two months ago. We hope he has a great time today and we will pretty much all be in Augsburg to celebrate it tomorrow ;)

Just because there were no huge announcements doesn’t mean the web has gone in a quiet slumber. Oh no! Last weekend was another Node KnockOut, with our own Nikolai on the jury and a whopping 178 entries. That said, he’ll do a post about NKO later so I won’t go into those awesome submissions. If you don’t want to wait, go check them out yourself!

Let’s see what else I put on JS Goodies. Somebody made an LDAP implementation for node. There’s an awesome CSS parallax story, even if you don’t speak Dutch. The IEWebGL plugin was released recently, enabling WebGL in IE, awesome! Then there’s glfx, which uses WebGL to do image effects. Pythonfiddle is an IDE for Python, yes, in the browser. Cubed and Chuclone, two very nice WebGL games. A blog post why it is so hard to secure a full screen mode API. I found an interesting blog post over how JIT could be abused by an attacker. Patternizer, a stripe generator tool. An image morph algorithm. A blog post about delivering tiered browser content. And this nice evolution of the web.

See you next week :)
